CCED's Role in Addressing the Challenges Facing
the U.S. Manufacturing Industry

Photo of compass guide with collage of people in different categories of lifeToday's U.S. manufacturing industries face the challenges of intense competition caused by the globalization of the manufacturing marketplace, changing demographics and relentless technology advancement. The resulting effects of these challenges cause manufacturers to recognize the need of highly skilled and technically savvy employees. Competent employees who can fully exploit productive potentials of advanced technologies, support increased quality and product complexity become a crucial factor for manufacturers to overcome these challenges. This factor generates a demand in the industry that causes critical shortages of qualified talented and skilled workers.

The good news is these industries' challenges have opened doors to many individuals in the manufacturing industries to hone their skills and exemplify their talents to take the initiative to fulfill the industries' need of qualified employees. Qualified employees will now have the advantage of advancing in their field for better opportunities. It's a win-win situation for employers, employees and the manufacturing industries.

To address these issues, the California Community College
Economic Development Network initiated the
Centers for Applied Competitive Technologies (CACT) program
and the
MSSC Assessment and Certification System.

Cerritos College Economic Development (CCED) believes in progress in workforce and industries as well as creating opportunities for students and individuals. As a CACT center and MSSC certification testing satellite, CCED can provide manufacturers solutions to address these challenges and open doors for skilled and qualified employees. CCED can provide necessary tools to students and individuals entering the manufacturing industry.
